Indian GI Musical Instruments to Mark World IP Day 2025

This year holds special significance for GMGC, as WIPO is focusing on celebrating music culture with IPR, and GMGC stands out as one of the leading organizations not just in India, but across Asia – for assisting artisans and communities in registering the highest number of Geographical Indications (GI) for musical instruments of India/ Bodo. We take immense pride in having supported artisans in securing these rights.

To mark this occasion, we are celebrating World IP Day with artisans, farmers and other communities who are directly or indirectly connected with IPR. The event will feature an exhibition and distribution of unique IPR products. Adding to the significance of this celebration, we will also be launching two important publications: the first-ever comprehensive book on IPR for the local population in the local language – Marathi, and a booklet titled “Impact of GI Registration in Maharashtra” which highlights how GI registration has an impact on pricing, production and export, ultimately contributing to socio-economic development.

Come join us in honouring and safeguarding our cultural heritage!
